FAQ
Do I need an account to use Computtite?
Both operational modes require a Computtite account (email and password authentication). In Local Mode, all inventory and media data remain strictly on your local filesystem without ongoing network requirements. In Cloud Mode, your workspace synchronizes with Supabase to facilitate multi-user collaboration, real-time sync, and external integrations.
Is Computtite free to use?
Computtite is free to download and operate without artificial feature caps or record limits on assets, employee directories, or license tracking. The project is voluntarily supported via Patreon under the SaaX (Software as an Experience) model.
Can I migrate from Local Mode to Cloud Mode?
Local and Cloud modes use distinct database architectures (SQLite vs. Supabase PostgreSQL). While in-place hot switching is not supported, you can export your local SQLite backup from Settings → Storage (/workspace/settings/storage), provision a Cloud workspace, and import your dataset. Team members can then be invited under Settings → Members.
Can I operate multiple workspaces concurrently?
Yes. Computtite supports multiple isolated workspaces accessible from the workspace selector in the sidebar. Each workspace maintains an independent database, asset schema, permission matrix, and storage directory.
Where is local workspace data stored?
In Local Mode, each workspace is stored as an isolated SQLite file:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/computtite/workspaces/{workspaceId}.db - Windows:
%APPDATA%\computtite\workspaces\{workspaceId}.db - Linux:
~/.config/computtite/workspaces/{workspaceId}.db
Binary media assets are located in media/{workspaceId}/, and automated backups reside in backups/{workspaceId}/. You can open this directory directly from Settings → Storage → Reveal in file manager.
In Cloud Mode, your device maintains a local SQLite mirror for offline capability, with mutations synchronized bidirectionally to Supabase.
What happens when an employee record is deleted?
Active asset assignments for the deleted individual are closed, returning devices to the unassigned pool. Historical custody logs are preserved in SQLite with relational integrity, documenting prior assignments in audit queries.
How do derived fields (days_until, years_since) operate?
Derived fields are evaluated on-the-fly during record rendering. Computtite computes remaining days or elapsed years dynamically using the system clock against the designated source date field. If the source date field is unpopulated, the derived field returns a null value without raising an error.
Are reports real-time or historical snapshots?
Reports execute live SQL aggregation queries across the current inventory dataset at execution time. Saved report templates store filter and column parameters, not cached record snapshots. Point-in-time snapshots should be archived via CSV, XLSX, or PDF export.
Can column layouts in reports be configured?
Inventory reports derive tabular columns from the custom field schema defined for that asset type in the Activos Hub (/workspace/activos). Adding or reordering fields in the type definition updates corresponding report column structures.
Does Computtite support Intel-based macOS hardware?
macOS builds target Apple Silicon (ARM64) natively. While the binary may execute via Rosetta 2 translation on x86_64 architecture, native performance optimizations and automated test suites target Apple Silicon.
How do I file an issue or feature proposal?
Submit issues to the official GitHub repository. Include the exact application version (found in Settings → Updates at /workspace/settings/updates or in your Profile at /workspace/profile), host OS details, reproduction steps, and diagnostic log outputs from Settings → Storage.
