Google Sheets Integration
The Google Sheets integration exports Computtite inventory reports directly into Google Sheets worksheets within your Google Drive account. This Cloud Mode capability allows automated spreadsheet generation from live inventory telemetry.
Authentication and Authorization Architecture
Computtite connects to the Google API using standard OAuth 2.0 with PKCE (Proof Key for Code Exchange) via your system’s default browser. The desktop client never receives or stores your Google password:
- Initiate connection under Settings → Integrations (
/workspace/settings/integrations). - Computtite initiates a loopback OAuth challenge and opens Google’s consent screen in your default browser.
- You review the requested scopes and grant access.
- Google redirects to the local loopback listener with the authorization code. Computtite exchanges this for token pairs.
- Tokens are persisted locally in the operating system’s secure credential store (e.g., macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, Secret Service API).
Required Scopes
Computtite requests scoped access strictly limited to report generation:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/spreadsheets: Create, read, and write Google Sheets worksheets generated by Computtite.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file: Upload and organize files created specifically by the application. This scope does not grant read or modify access to existing, unrelated files in your Drive.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email: Read your Google account email to display connection status in the user interface.
Exporting Reports to Google Sheets
Once connected, reports are pushed from the Reports view:
- Navigate to Reports (
/workspace/reports) in the navigation sidebar. - Select the report definition and apply query parameters (date ranges, departments, asset types).
- Click Export → Google Sheets.
- Specify the target: create a new spreadsheet or append records to an existing sheet. For new files, an optional target Drive folder ID may be designated.
- Confirm. Computtite creates the worksheet, establishes frozen header rows, configures automated column sizing, and returns a direct URI to open the document.
Supported Operations
- Create new spreadsheet: Generates a new Google Sheets workbook populated with the active report dataset.
- Append to existing spreadsheet: Inserts rows into a designated worksheet within an existing spreadsheet.
- Drive directory targeting: Allows saving created workbooks into specific organizational Drive folders.
- Spreadsheet picker: Queries metadata of existing user spreadsheets to populate selection targets.
Token Lifecycle and Revocation
Refresh tokens are rotated automatically in the background prior to API requests. To revoke access:
- Navigate to Settings → Integrations (
/workspace/settings/integrations) and select Disconnect under Google. This purges cached tokens from the local secure credential store. - To revoke authorization server-side, remove Computtite from myaccount.google.com/permissions.
