Your First Workspace
When you launch Computtite with no active workspaces, the application opens the Forge initialization wizard. Forge is a structured workflow that establishes your workspace schema, storage engine, and initial asset catalogs.
A workspace in Computtite is an isolated environment with its own SQLite database or Supabase schema, asset definitions, custom fields, member access policies, and configuration parameters. You can maintain multiple concurrent workspaces (e.g., separating production hardware from lab environments, or staging MSP client tenants).
Step 1 — Name and Storage Engine
Specify a descriptive workspace name (e.g., “Corporate IT”, “Regional Datacenter”). This identifier appears in the workspace selector and in exported audit reports.
Next, choose your storage mode:
- Local mode: All database tables and media files reside exclusively on your local filesystem. A Computtite account is used for device authentication, but day-to-day operations execute completely offline without outbound network communication. Ideal for single operators, air-gapped systems, and strict compliance environments.
- Cloud mode: The workspace synchronizes bidirectionally with Supabase in real time. This enables multi-user collaboration with role-based access control, member invitations, granular visibility profiles, and external integrations with Google Sheets and Notion. While network connectivity is needed for remote synchronization, the local SQLite mirror supports offline mutations that replay upon reconnect.
Step 2 — UI Presentation Tone
Computtite provides two interface presentation modes:
- Simple: Streamlined layout focusing on daily inventory logging, hiding deep schema editors behind secondary menus.
- Advanced: Surfaces raw schema configurations, derived calculation formulas, and low-level diagnostic tooling.
UI preferences can be reconfigured at any time from your Profile (/workspace/profile), while workspace-level defaults reside in Settings → Workspace (/workspace/settings/workspace).
Step 3 — Select an Industry Template
Computtite provides seven structured template packs with pre-configured schemas and validation rules:
- IT Infrastructure: Laptops, Desktops, Servers, Routers, Switches, Printers, Phones.
- Education: Laptops, Workstations, Projectors, Tablets, Classroom Displays.
- Corporate: Laptops, Desktops, Executive Mobile Devices, Office Printers, Conference Systems.
- Commerce: POS Terminals, Barcode Scanners, Thermal Receipt Printers, Inventory Terminals.
- Healthcare: Clinical Workstations, Mobile Diagnostics, Patient Monitoring Terminals.
- Fleet: Mobile Terminals, GPS Tracking Units, Fleet Vehicles.
- Laboratory: Diagnostic Instrumentation, Specialized Workstations, Network Analyzers.
You can also select Blank to construct your asset catalog from an empty schema using the Forge schema editor in the Activos Hub (/workspace/activos).
Step 4 — Confirmation and Initialization
Review the configuration summary and confirm creation. Computtite initializes the SQLite store or provisions the remote Supabase schema immediately. The application routes to the workspace overview, displaying initial inventory health telemetry and sidebar navigation.
Guided Interface Walkthrough
Upon first initialization, Computtite launches an interactive spotlight walkthrough that highlights primary subsystems (Activos Hub, Personnel, Reporting, Governance, and Settings). The walkthrough can be dismissed or relaunched at any time from Settings → Support (/workspace/settings/support) or the User Profile view.
Workspace Switching
Switching workspaces is performed via the workspace selector in the top-left sidebar header. Computtite closes active database connections and mounts the selected workspace without requiring process restarts or credential re-entry.
